Lest we forget
The Daring class destroyer HMAS Voyager was lost at
sea off the New South Wales south coast near Jervis Bay after colliding
with the aircraft carrier HMAS
Melbourne. Both vessels were on trials
undertaking various manoeuvers when the Voyager crossed the bow of Melbourne resulting
in a collision that cut the Voyager in two. All those who lost their
lives were from the Voyager with 14 officers and 67 sailors killed
from a total number of 314 personnel.
