Ian Ewart McIndoe B.V.Sc (1979)
Ian
McIndoe was a crew member of the 34 foot yacht Charleston that
disappeared on passage from Hobart to Sydney for the 1979 Sydney to Hobart
Yacht Race. Despite extensive land, sea and air searches no trace was
found of the yacht or the five crew.
The reasons for and the location of the loss of the crew and yacht remains a mystery. It is believed the yacht suffered some severe damage while somewhere east of Flinders Island, Tasmania preventing the crew to call for assistance.
